Contributions Wanted ....

... for a Derby Zine.

CONTRIBUTIONS WANTED FOR DERBY ZINE!

We're putting together a paper-and-ink zine dedicated to the EU roller derby scene, and we're looking for contributions! We want funny, irreverent, informative and personal stuff - the more visual and novel the better. We want quizzes, comics, illustrations, photos, how-tos, lists of your fave whatevers, stories about falling in love with a rollergirl, stuff from fans about their first bout, tips, pics, diagrams, stuff about what you love and hate, 'a year in the life of a starter league', 'my most terrifying derby experience' - whatever you think people will be interested in reading. Stuff from refs, non-skaters and fans is welcome, of course.

It's going to be a no-budget, DIY thing with no league affiliations, and we're planning on getting it out in about November.

Please send in your ideas and links to any past writing you've done.

Thanks!

Helen Nash & Sky Rockit, London Rollergirls

PS .... and remember to send me a copy at The Round-Up Bout, so you can have some online fame too!!
Cheers! Jet Stepper xxx

Skater Profile - Skate Crasher

TEAM: Sheffield Steel Rollergirls

NUMBER: 11

POSITION: Jammer, Blocker, Pivot

MVP: Crasher was SSRG’s MVP at our inaugural bout against Leeds Roller Dolls in August 2009

SKATE OUT SONG: Beastie Boys- Sabotage

ALTER EGO: Electrical Engineer

Skate Crasher is an unstoppable Roller Derby force!
Blocker! Pivot! Jammer! You name it she excels at it.
The kind of Derby Girl the world needs more of.   She bubbles over with passion for the sport and it is an honour to play with or against her.
And if she lands in your lap during a game? Consider yourself blessed by the goddess!

Crasher is an equipment nerd and a first aider so she is always on hand to make sure everyone is safe and happy. In fact, at SSRGʼs first bout our Warrior Princess had a chin versus concrete incident! Luckily, Crasher was on hand to help the medics out with her trusty first aid kit and all was well in a matter of minutes.

Skate Crasher loves to skate backwards and when she retires from Roller Derby she plans to take up backwards skating full time.  She guest skated in Northern EXPOsure in September for Middlesbough Milk Rollers along with her SSRG team mates Eva von Gorier, Mia Malice and Projectile Janet. SSRG had such fun with MMR that we will be having a closed bout with them in November.

Known as Spanner to her friends, Skate Crasher is a trickster and a  speedster and an amazing woman to have as a team mate!

YOU CAN SEE SKATE CRASHER AND THE REST OF THE SHEFFIELD STEEL ROLLERGIRLS AT OUR BOUTS. COME ALONG AND WATCH US SOON!
